Listen, my daughter, with the ear of your heart.
- Prologue to the Rule of St. Benedict
We are a community of consecrated women who are living a life of
prayer on the North Dakota prairie. If you have a desire in your
heart to surrender to God’s call for you, then we invite you
to come and journey with us. Following the Rule of St. Benedict,
our daily life features
- Eucharist, Liturgy of the Hours, and private contemplative prayer.
- Common life—living, working, praying, and playing together
in community.
- Ministries that use our gifts in service to the
human and spiritual needs of the Church.
- Fidelity to our monastic
profession.
Prayer is at the heart of Benedictine community life.
With daily Holy Eucharist we receive the graces we need to offer
our day to God. Three times daily we come together to
pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Each Sister also takes time for
reflection on Sacred Scripture which leads to contemplative
prayer. Sisters also have their own preferred devotions,
such as holy hour, rosaries, novenas, litanies. Silence,
solitude, and spiritual reading are valued as the environment
for realizing the constant presence of God.
Benedictine women live a common life; that is, a life where all
things are shared. As far as possible we come together for prayer,
meals, and recreation. We work together to support our community
and to serve the Church in various settings, such as parishes, hospitals,
nursing homes, schools, retreat centers. Our community strives to
be a model of stewardship and simplicity, providing constant reminders
that the earth is God’s, and we are entrusted with its care.
